It was first opened for Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1800 and has exhibits of domestic bygones, Victorian Memorabilia, natural history, local industries and much more, some unusual items include 2 headed lamb, a mantrap, a coffin bier and cobra in combat with a mongoose! The Friends of the Trans Pennine Trail is a voluntary body of people who want to get the most out of the TPT and see it succeed. They help by lobbying, campaigning, providing practical assistance, supporting the Trail project team and promoting the TPT. The friends and the TPT operate a TPT Steward Scheme with volunteers across the country acting as the 'eyes and ears' when they are out and about on the TPT. We are a sports club but just play cricket. We have 5 cricket teams. A first team which play in the Huddersfield Central Premier League. The second team play in section D of the Huddersfield Central League. We have 3 junior teams. We are a uniformed group consisting of 4 Rainbow Units, 4 Brownie Units, 2 Guide Units and a Ranger Unit. The youngest member is 5 years of age and the oldest 18 years upwards. They meet in Penistone/Oxpring area. Each unit meets once a week for approximatley 1 and a half hours. All girls wear uniforms and a weekly subscription is payable. All guides and helpers are volunteers. Each group follows a programme set out by Girl Guides UK. The programme includes games, outdoor activities, crafts singing and much more.

Established in 2005, The Hoylandswaine Arts Group evolved from its predecessor the Hoylandswaine Music Group, formed in 1988 to promote professional music events in and around Hoylandswaine. The group was formed eight years ago to study the history of the village. We have to date, collected many old photographs and a great deal of information. We ahve mounted various exhibitions and produced four booklets. We do try to confine our interest to Hoylandswaine only moving over boundries when families relocate or events cover wider areas. The meetings on most Mondays 2.00pm - 4.00pm are held at the Village Hall and all are welcome.

Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir is a well established local choir with about 50 members, associated to the National Association of Choirs. We are based in Millhouse Green, a small village on the edge of the Pennine moors of South Yorkshire. We practice at the Millhouse Institute on Monday nights at 7:30.

Our members are all retired and we meet in the Millhouse Institute every Thursday afternoon 1.45pm to 4.00pm. The group play dominoes and stop for tea or coffee. We then have a game of bingo. During the summer if we can manage financially we go on occasional trips out. We usually invite other local retired persons (who are not members of our group) when we have trips or tea parties.

Penistone Camera Club was established in 1967. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, with an ever-growing membership. The club meets at 7.30pm every Wednesday Evening at the St Johns Community Centre.
There are always varied activities going on each week check out the diary page.
We have various studio lights and props also digital equipment (including computer, digital projector, camera and A3 printer). The club also runs competitions within the club and with other clubs as well. The club has outings to various places of interest as well as guest lecturers to give talks on various subjects.

Penistone Church Football Club serves the market town of Penistone, and the surrounding villages, and consists of two full-sized football pitches (one with floodlights and stand), mini soccer pitch for junior sides, loodlit 6-a-side all-weather pitch and training area.
There are 4 changing rooms and a fully licensed clubhouse which holds 100 people. The club provides a centre for local people to meet, socialize and take part in sporting activities in a friendly atmosphere.

The Penistone Cinema Organ Trust was founded by Kevin Grunill in 1999. The Compton organ remained in storage since its purchase in 1994 and it was not until a new home was found for the organ that the Trust was formed. Several Committee members are also Committee members of the White Rose Organ Society and we have a strong bond between the two groups. The Trust was formed to install the Compton and present concerts on the organ, following its installation at the Penistone Paramount. Since this time, PCOT have gone from strength to strength and now not only present regular monthly concerts featuring the Compton but also weekly lunchtime concerts, featuring our Allen 317ex which is installed locally in St Andrews church, Penistone.

Penistone Round Table Penistone Round Table is a young man's club open to men between the ages of 18 to 45 years. Penistone Ladies Circle is a young ladies' club open to women between the ages of 18 to 45 years. Round Table and Ladies Circle Clubs are established in most towns and cities around the UK and Ireland. The Razzmatazz Community Youth Music Theatre Company

We are a Youth Music Theatre Group with 45 children from in and around Penistone between ages of 9 - 18. We started in September 2004 and have since produced our first full length production of 'Whistle Down The Wind' at the Paramount Theatre in December 2005. We perform concerts for local group such as Derby & Joan clubs etc, and entertain the elderly in local care homes.

A support group for carers of people affected by substance misuse has been set up in Penistone by Swanswell. The national recovery charity, which wants to achieve a society free from problem alcohol and drug use and runs a session at St John's Community Centre, Church Street, Penistone (see diary page for times).

It offers advice and information for carers of friends or relatives affected by alcohol or drug use, who are living in or around the Penistone area.

The support group in Penistone is offered in addition to Swanswell's Carer Support Service in Barnsley – part of Barnsley's integrated treatment system – which provides emotional and practical advice on a range of topics including carers allowance applications and understanding a loved one's treatment.

A group of volunteers forming a committee which oversees the maintenance, upkeep and living of the village hall and the maintenance of the recreation ground. An annual gala is organised to help keep living fees of the hall at a reasonable rate.
The hall is used for private functions for courses run by the Barnsley MBC for stage productions (including school functions) and also used by sef help groups - such as a function club, Darby and Joan Club, Dingo and beetke sessions.

Restored 17th Century wrought-iron works with tilt hammers and working water wheels. Workshops contain later 18th Century and early 19th Century machine tools. A collection of working stationary stean engines are displayed. W.T.F. Model engineers run a miniature railway besides the river on the Sundy afternoons. Guided tour included.
